Summary
The City of Guelph is seeking a part-time Downtown Maintainer to perform maintenance duties within the Central Business District. Responsibilities include manual and motorized snow removal, salting/sanding, sweeping, and cleaning of parking facilities, public areas, and sidewalks. The role involves operating various types of maintenance equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and power washers, as well as performing skilled maintenance on city-owned facilities and equipment, including parking meters, plumbing, and electrical systems. The maintainer will also be responsible for the cleanliness of waste containers, responding to emergency clean-ups, and maintaining daily records of activities. Candidates must have a minimum Grade 12 education and 6-12 months of experience operating medium to heavy equipment in high-traffic areas. A valid Class G driver's license with a good driving record is required, with a DZ license considered an asset. The position requires knowledge of tools and procedures for infrastructure and facility maintenance, the ability to perform strenuous physical work in various weather conditions, and proficiency with computer applications like Microsoft Office and MMS systems.
