IP Coach
Summary
Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) is seeking experienced professionals to serve as IP Coaches, providing one-to-one guidance and support to its clients. The role involves helping clients navigate short-term intellectual property challenges and develop effective IP strategies to drive value creation. IP Coaches will assist clients with understanding their market and competitors, identifying which IP rights (such as patents and trademarks) can support their business objectives, and aligning their IP with commercialization and growth plans. Responsibilities also include providing practical guidance on issues like prioritizing IP on a budget, managing public disclosures to protect IP rights, and handling IP matters with contractors and suppliers. Ideal candidates are Ontario-based business executives, entrepreneurs, or licensed IP professionals with significant "lived IP experience." Applicants must demonstrate expertise in various forms of IP, a strong understanding of technology transfer and commercialization, and experience in scaling new ventures or leveraging IP assets. Specialized knowledge is required in at least one key sector, including AI, vehicle technology, health technology, life sciences, mining, agriculture, or the clean economy. Compensation is provided at an hourly rate for coaching services.
