Project Hydrogeologist

Summary

The Region of Waterloo is seeking a Project Hydrogeologist for a temporary full-time position, up to 18 months. This role involves assisting in the planning, design, and management of hydrogeologic services for municipal groundwater supplies. The Project Hydrogeologist will provide technical expertise on groundwater quantity and quality, assist in source water protection programs, and review hydrogeologic submissions from developers and external agencies. Responsibilities include administering contracts, conducting vulnerability and risk assessments, developing policies to protect drinking water sources, and implementing monitoring programs. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, eligibility for professional geoscience or engineering membership, and knowledge of relevant legislation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with computer proficiency in software like ArcGIS and modeling tools. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days in the office and requires occasional evening/weekend work and travel.
