Crossing Guard

Summary

The City of Cambridge is seeking Crossing Guards for the school year, running from September 2026 to June 2027. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety of children by assisting them in crossing roads at designated school crossing locations, making sure traffic remains stopped until pedestrians have safely crossed. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and exposure to traffic noise and vehicle exhaust. Candidates must be physically capable of meeting the role's demands, which will be verified through a pre-employment assessment. On-the-job training is provided. Both regular and on-call spare positions are available, with spare guards requiring reliable transportation and receiving mileage reimbursement. Successful applicants will need to provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
