Summary
The Town of Milton is seeking a Supervisor, Accounting to oversee accounting staff and processes, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations. This role is responsible for maintaining accounting information integrity, preparing year-end working papers, and supporting annual audited financial statements. The Supervisor will review and approve various accounting transactions, outgoing funds, and HST reporting, while also providing guidance on donations, sales tax, and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB). The position involves managing the month-end process, supporting financial reporting, and preparing audit working papers. The Supervisor will also conduct financial analysis, research legislative changes, and serve as a liaison for financial matters. Key responsibilities include managing direct reports, recruiting, training, and motivating staff, as well as recommending procedural changes and assisting with budget preparation. Candidates require a post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, with a minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including one year in a supervisory role. A professional accounting designation (CPA) and knowledge of PSAB standards are mandatory. Experience in municipal accounting and with financial software is preferred.
