Summary
The Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in Kitchener, ON. This full-time position involves providing intensive patient care to individuals with acute or critical cardiac conditions. The RN will utilize advanced knowledge, critical thinking, and leadership skills to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring adherence to policy and procedural guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring and interpreting patient data, prioritizing care, performing therapeutic procedures, collaborating with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, administering medications, and assisting with specialized procedures. The role also involves mentoring students and learners, responding to emergencies, and participating in ongoing education to maintain expertise in cardiology and critical care. Candidates must possess a BScN or equivalent and be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A minimum of 3-5 years of cardiac and/or critical care experience in a hospital setting is required, along with current ACLS certification and completion of a Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation course (or commitment to complete within 3 months of hire). Advanced clinical assessment and basic airway management skills are essential, as are strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Experience with advanced skills such as arterial sheath removal, intravenous insertion, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile/clean procedures is preferred, as is a Critical Care Nursing Certificate or commitment to obtaining one within three years.
