Program Instructor - Group Movement (i.e. youth, strength training, group fitness)
Summary
The City of Waterloo is hiring Program Instructors to lead a variety of group movement classes, including youth programs, strength training, and group fitness. Responsibilities include preparing and instructing classes, creating an inclusive and enjoyable environment, demonstrating proper techniques, and ensuring the safety of all participants. The role also involves setting up and taking down equipment, completing administrative tasks like attendance and incident reports, and acting as a liaison between the city and program participants. Candidates must possess a valid fitness, wellness, or personal training certification (such as Can Fit Pro, CPTN, 200hr YTT, Pilates, Barre, or Zumba) or a minimum of four years of equivalent instructional experience. Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to support a broad spectrum of fitness levels. A current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification is required, and instructors for children's classes must also have High Five certification. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is a condition of employment.
