Coding and Documentation Specialist/HIM Supervisor

Summary

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time Coding and Documentation Specialist/HIM Supervisor. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of medical documentation to reflect the care provided to patients. The specialist will work with physicians and coders to improve documentation quality, conduct regular coding audits, and provide orientation to new physicians. Key responsibilities include facilitating interactions between clinical and business teams, establishing processes for chart review, identifying trends, and presenting findings. The position requires a graduate of an accredited Health Information Management program, certification with CHIMA, and a minimum of 5 years of current experience coding NACRS and DAD. Supervisory and leadership experience, along with group education experience, is also necessary. Proficiency with electronic abstracting and computer applications is expected, with Meditech and 3M experience being an asset. The role demands a strong understanding of coding classifications (ICD-10, with expectation for ICD-11), grouping and weighting methodologies, and hospital funding models. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills are essential.
