Summary

The University of Guelph is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for its Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) within the Health Sciences Centre. This temporary full-time position, covering a leave of absence from November 2, 2026, to November 1, 2027, involves providing direct patient care to both general veterinary medicine and rehabilitation patients. The role supports the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital and the OVC Fitness and Rehabilitation (FAR) Service, a teaching facility offering care to the community and learning opportunities for veterinary students. The RVT will assist with a range of duties including medical, surgical, and dental therapy, radiography, and rehabilitation treatments such as underwater treadmill therapy. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, collecting specimens, preparing prescriptions, and maintaining medical records. The incumbent will also provide functional guidance and assess the competence of veterinary students in performing patient care activities. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and may involve working with various animal species.
