General Labourer/Operator
Summary
The Township of Guelph/Eramosa is seeking a full-time temporary General Labourer/Operator for their Public Works department. This 6-month position involves operating and maintaining various equipment, driving single and tandem axle vehicles, performing labourer duties, and operating snow removal equipment for winter operations. The role requires mechanical aptitude and experience in roads maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years of experience in roads maintenance, and a valid Ontario Driver's License, Class "D" with a "Z" endorsement, along with a clean Ministry of Transportation abstract. Experience with hand tools, trucks, snowplows, and construction equipment is necessary, as is the ability to respond to public inquiries tactfully. The position also requires basic computer skills, the ability to work independently, and an on-call response time of within 30 minutes. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS regulations is essential, and previous snowplow experience is preferred. The Township offers a competitive compensation and pension package.
