Summary
The Region of Waterloo is seeking a Supervisor of Clinical Practice for Community Programs at Sunnyside Home, a long-term care facility certified in The Butterfly Approach®. This role involves supervising the operation of the community overnight stay program, ensuring the psychological and social needs of participants are met, and providing clinical subject matter expertise for all community programs offered by the Division. The supervisor will direct and oversee nursing staff to foster a culture of excellence in person-centred and emotion-focused care. Key responsibilities include managing the overnight stay program's booking calendar, providing supportive counseling to participants and their care partners, and developing service plans. The role also involves human resources functions such as hiring, training, and coaching staff, as well as administrative tasks like scheduling, payroll approval, and report writing. The supervisor will also participate in quality assurance activities, monitor the program budget, and liaise with other healthcare staff and community agencies. Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or an equivalent education in Health Sciences, along with current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Required experience includes knowledge of dementia, mental health, and addictions, as well as progressively responsible supervisory experience in a 24-hour direct service unionized environment. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation, availability for some evenings and one weekend per month, and the ability to travel within the Waterloo Region. A vulnerable sector police check is also required.
