Summary
Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Childbirth department. This is a temporary unscheduled part-time position, expected to last until approximately July 2027. The role involves providing and coordinating care for high and low-risk antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum patients and neonates within a family-centered care framework, while ensuring a safe environment. Required qualifications include a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, current BCLS, and two years of recent experience in surgery, medicine, or emergency nursing. Recent perinatal nursing experience is preferred. Applicants may be considered if they have completed a practicum consolidation in obstetrics. Additional mandatory requirements include completion of an 18-hour in-person breastfeeding course and a Fetal Health Surveillance course for intrapartum care. Applicants not holding NRP Provider status must obtain it prior to unit orientation. While a perinatal certificate or CNA certification is preferred, it can be obtained after hire. The position requires excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, continuous learning, and a good attendance record.
