Educational Assistants
Summary
The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is seeking Educational Assistants for temporary, full-time and part-time positions across various school locations. These are 10-month roles, following the school year calendar from September to June. The primary responsibility of an Educational Assistant is to support students with a wide range of diverse needs, including behavioural, safety, medical, and physical requirements. Duties involve working with students individually or in groups, and may include physically demanding tasks such as lifting, toileting, positioning, and transferring students and equipment, as well as applying Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) techniques. Ideal candidates will possess an Educational Assistant Diploma or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. A post-secondary degree in a relevant field is also preferred. A valid Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) certification is a mandatory requirement for this position. The board strongly prefers applicants with recent experience working with students who have special needs and behavioural disabilities, with school-based experience considered a significant asset.
