Museum Experience Specialist

Summary

The Region of Waterloo is seeking a Museum Experience Specialist for a temporary full-time position. This role involves bringing stories to life through engaging and inclusive museum experiences for diverse audiences. The specialist will present programs to various groups, provide historic interpretation, assist with site operations, and support guest services. The position also contributes to program development, exhibit support, and community engagement, aiming to foster curiosity, dialogue, and meaningful connections. The ideal candidate will have a 3-year degree/diploma in a related field (e.g., history, art, theatre) plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination. Required skills include experience developing and delivering public programs in a museum setting, strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills. Experience working with diverse community members and familiarity with principles of reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion are essential. The role requires the ability to work weekends, statutory holidays, and evenings, and may involve travel within Waterloo Region. A vulnerable sector police check is also required.
