Summary

Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) is seeking an accomplished physician leader to join their Senior Leadership Team as Vice President, Medical & Academic Affairs (VP-MAA). This executive role provides strategic leadership for medical and academic affairs across a multi-site healthcare organization, focusing on advancing clinical excellence, physician engagement, medical leadership, education, research, and innovation. The VP-MAA will offer executive and medical leadership, champion quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence, and advance the organization's academic mandate by strengthening relationships with medical schools and research partners. Key responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of medical strategies, supporting physician workforce planning, and contributing to organizational planning and resource allocation. Qualifications include a Medical Doctor (MD) degree, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, membership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and eligibility for an academic appointment. A minimum of 5 years of progressive senior leadership experience in a healthcare environment is required, along with proven expertise in strategic planning, healthcare operations, quality improvement, and change management. Experience advancing medical education, research, innovation, and academic partnerships, as well as a strong understanding of Ontario's healthcare system, are also essential.
