Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) Registered Nurse
Summary
The Brant Community Healthcare System is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) Registered Nurse to join their team. This role focuses on providing expert clinical assessment and recommendations for geriatric patients in the Emergency Department (ED) to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and facilitate safe community discharges. The GEM RN will collaborate with other GEM nurses across the province, liaise with community services, and act as a resource for ED staff. Key responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, health promotion, patient-centered care, critical thinking, problem-solving, and contributing to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. The position requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BCLS certification, and a minimum of five years of demonstrated expertise in geriatrics and/or emergency services. A Gerontological Nursing Certificate is preferred but mandatory completion is required.
