Summary
The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock is seeking a Director of Fire & Emergency Management Services/Fire Chief. This leadership role reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and supervises District Chiefs, with shared supervision of other roles within the Rural Fire Services Oxford County. The Director is responsible for overseeing fire suppression, emergency response, fire prevention, public education, training, budget administration, and disaster preparedness, ensuring compliance with the Fire Protection and Prevention Act. Key duties include managing the fire department, authorizing equipment maintenance and replacement, drafting policies, assessing deficiencies, overseeing fire prevention and education programs, managing training activities, preparing budgets and capital forecasts, and authorizing purchases. The position also involves community emergency management coordination, developing and maintaining the Township's Emergency Management Plan, organizing exercises, and promoting community safety. The role requires strong organizational, managerial, and public relations skills, with a minimum of five years of experience as a senior officer in a municipal fire department. Essential qualifications include specific NFPA certifications, a valid Class G and DZ driver's license for Ontario, Incident Management Systems Certification, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and FirePro software.
