Strategic Program Specialist
Summary
The University of Guelph's Research Services Office is seeking a Strategic Program Specialist to lead the administration of key institutional research funding programs and implement the university's Research Honours and Awards Strategy. This role involves managing programs such as the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John Evans Leaders’ Fund (JELF), the Ontario Research Fund (ORF) Infrastructure programs, and the Ontario Early Researcher Award. Responsibilities include planning workshops, providing strategic advice on research proposals, reviewing application budgets, coordinating grant agreements, and overseeing reporting and compliance. The successful candidate will also manage the Honours and Awards Portfolio, which includes liaising with award agencies, supporting the Honours and Awards Committee, and managing the internal review and nomination process. This position requires a research-thesis based post-graduate degree and a minimum of four years of progressive experience in research administration, with a strong background in proposal development. Key qualifications include excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, and new digital tools, including AI.
