Summary
The City of Cambridge is seeking a Supervisor of Financial Planning – Capital & Development to oversee the execution, review, and coordination of capital budgets, capital forecasting, and financial planning activities related to development charges. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning, this role involves supervising financial planning staff and ensuring the consistent integration of capital and development charge financial information, including oversight for growth-related revenues and securities. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing capital budgets and multi-year forecasts, providing financial oversight for complex capital initiatives, and managing tangible capital asset reporting. The supervisor will also oversee development finance matters, such as the Development Charges Background Study and By-law, monitor legislative changes, and ensure compliance with policies and accounting standards. This position plays a crucial role in identifying financial risks, preparing reports for senior leadership, and contributing to process improvements. Candidates must possess a university degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. The role requires a minimum of four years of experience in municipal capital budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting, as well as advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience with FMW software is considered an asset.
