Production Assistant
Summary
The Region of Waterloo is seeking a Production Assistant to provide support for hard copy and electronic publishing. This role involves coordinating the production tracking system, managing external service providers for overflow work, and performing various administrative tasks. The Production Assistant will be responsible for logging print jobs, forecasting machine overbooking, discussing pre-production details, and ensuring jobs meet deadlines and quality standards. They will also operate printers, archive jobs, perform color calibrations, and manage costing information, including invoicing and processing external service provider invoices. The position requires maintaining stock levels, managing a petty cash fund, and backing up other roles as needed. Candidates should possess knowledge and skills acquired through a 1-year community college education and two years of experience in operating equipment and preparing layouts. Essential skills include knowledge of print shop procedures, graphic arts, the Region's graphics standards, and the ability to handle confidential material. Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office, are also required. The role is a temporary full-time position for up to 18 months, with a work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
