Social Worker

Summary

The Waterloo Region District School Board is seeking a Temporary Social Worker for a 1.0 FTE position within Learning Services – Special Education. This role involves assessing students in crisis, families needing support, and addressing habitual absenteeism to determine appropriate interventions. The successful candidate will provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and social work support to students and families, collaborating with community agencies to ensure integrated service delivery. A Master of Social Work degree, registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle are required. Previous experience as a school-based social worker or attendance counsellor is considered an asset. This is an itinerant position requiring travel between multiple school sites.
