Educational Assistant
Summary
St. John's-Kilmarnock School (SJK) is seeking a full-time Educational Assistant/Early Years Educator for a 12-month contract position, with the possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will join the team at SJK, an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World Continuum School located in the Waterloo Region of Ontario. In this role, you will be an integral part of the classroom experience, working collaboratively with teachers to support student success through both instructional and non-instructional tasks. Key responsibilities include collaborating with educators to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for Early Learning Kindergarten students, supporting individual student needs based on their strengths and interests, and assisting with the implementation of Learning Support Plans (LSPs). The role also involves promoting pro-social behaviours, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, supporting daily routines, and supervising students during various school activities, including classes, field trips, and events. Candidates should possess an Educational Assistant Diploma or an equivalent post-secondary credential, such as Child & Youth Care, Developmental Service Worker, or Early Childhood Education. A minimum of one year of experience supporting children in an early learning or elementary setting is required. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to student well-being, and the ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. First Aid & CPR-C certification is also required, or the willingness to obtain it.
