Summary
The City of Cambridge is seeking a Supervisor of Financial Planning – Operating to oversee the day-to-day execution, review, and coordination of the city's operating budget, forecasting, and variance analysis activities. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning, this role involves providing direct supervision to financial planning staff and ensuring the consistent application of financial policies and standards. The supervisor will act as a key financial contact for assigned departments, offering guidance, analysis, and issue resolution. Key responsibilities include overseeing the preparation and consolidation of operating budgets and multi-year forecasts, reviewing the work of Financial Analysts, and coordinating timelines and deliverables for budget activities. The successful candidate will also identify and escalate operational risks, contribute to process improvements, support the preparation of financial reports for senior leadership, and ensure compliance with grant funding requirements. Applicants must possess a university degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. The role requires four years of experience in municipal financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as advanced proficiency in Excel. A valid G driver's license is also required upon hiring.
