Deputy Fire Chief
Summary
The City of Waterloo is seeking a Deputy Fire Chief to provide leadership, direction, and coordination to their assigned division(s) within the Fire Rescue Services. Reporting to the Fire Chief, this role involves ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, contributing to strategic planning, and managing resources effectively. The Deputy Fire Chief will also be responsible for staying current with legislative changes, collaborating with various stakeholders including community groups, emergency service agencies, and internal teams, and maintaining strong labour relations. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic plans, policies, and procedures; building relationships with staff, associations, and external agencies; leading organizational change; and ensuring compliance with legislation and standards. The role also involves budget management, capital asset lifecycle management, acting as an alternate CEMC, and participating in labour relations processes. The Deputy Fire Chief will also be expected to provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to assigned personnel, and participate in recruitment and development processes.
