Human Resources Partner

Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Human Resources Partner to provide strategic HR advice and guidance on employee and labour relations matters. This role involves developing and implementing employment strategies, ensuring compliance with legislation and university policies, and counseling managers on various HR issues such as performance management, conflict resolution, and accommodations. The HR Partner will also support workforce planning, recruitment, salary administration, and training initiatives. Additionally, the position requires proactive client relationship management, support for workplace investigations, and external liaison with legal and government organizations. The role also involves developing and delivering HR workshops and programs for managers and staff. Required qualifications include a university undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, a Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) designation, and over 5 years of progressive HR experience. Experience in an advising role with exposure to employee relations and human rights issues, as well as knowledge of employment legislation, is essential. Experience in labour relations, grievance and arbitration processes, and university policies are considered assets. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and business acumen skills are also required.
